1. Julie Edmunds

Color has always been at the heart of every piece of artwork ever created by Julie Edmunds, from simple drawings to my most elaborate mosaic pieces. Strong, bold colors are the essence behind it all. The artist believes that “the glass can be seen in so many different ways depending on the light and angle you view it, and that is what really fascinates me and helps me bring the piece to life”. Definitely, one of the artists to watch 2019!
2. Max Hooper Schneider

After studying biology and urban design at NYU, Max Hooper Schneider got a master’s in landscape architecture from Harvard. And yet this course of study seems entirely necessary for the artist’s brilliantly unclassifiable work: aquariums and terrariums that contain meticulously assembled environments where natural and artificial elements combine to create objects of startling, strange beauty.
3. David Cheifetz

There is a mysterious quality to the subjects of David Cheifetz‘s paintings, often illuminated with candlelight. Another great name to put on your own list “Artists to Watch 2019”, this artist builds exotic still lifes around color harmony. The contrast of ornate detail with abstracted backgrounds create an interesting resonance.
4. Liu Shiyuan

Liu Shiyuan conjures a slipstream in digital space. Words and images fly past, leading all viewers to extrapolate their hidden meanings and connections. “Isolated Above, Connected Down,” her recent exhibition at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery and her first solo outing at a major U.S. gallery, was a tripartite viewing experience, demonstrating her facility in photography, film, and room-filling installation.
5. Alyssa Monks

Alyssa Monk’s luscious figurative paintings have an ethereal (almost hypnotic) sensuality touch. Her subjects are often presented with barriers between themselves and the viewer and are rendered with vibrant color. The presence of water calls to mind ancient symbols of creation, fertility, protection, and sexuality.
